Synopsys Opens Expanded Shanghai Office and R&D Center
Continued Investment in Integrated Site Illustrates Long-term Commitment to China Market
SHANGHAI, China, March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Synopsys, Inc. , the world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced the opening of an expanded Shanghai office, which now includes the R&D Center and houses more than 200 sales, R&D, and technical support employees. The fully integrated site will help the Shanghai team to continue working closely with customers and partners to address their greatest design challenges. Dr. Chi-Foon Chan, president and chief operating officer of Synopsys, hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with company executives Yu Zhong-Yu, member of National Committee of the CPPCC and president of China Semiconductor Industry Association; Feng Ji Chun, director of Department of High and New Technology and Industrialization, Ministry of Science and Technology P.R.C (MOST); key clients and strategic partners.

Synopsys opened its first office in China in 1995 and has since set up offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen. In 2003, Synopsys relocated its Beijing office to a significantly larger location closer to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and renowned universities. It is three times as large as the previous office. Over the past five years, the average annual growth rate of Synopsys' revenue in China was approximately 70 percent. Apart from its successful establishment in China, Synopsys formed a number of strategic partnerships in the China market, including founding the joint laboratory for advanced SoC design with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and supporting the construction of China state IC design incubators.
